Location of Lake Tomahawk Park

The park is located at the north end of town, just off I-40. From I-40, take Exit 64 and turn left onto NC-9/US-64 W. After 0.8 miles, turn right to stay on NC-9 N/US-64 W. The park will be on your right after another 1.7 miles.

How to get to Lake Tomahawk Park

To get to Lake Tomahawk Park, take I-40 East to exit 64. Turn right at the stop sign onto NC-9/US-64 East. In .3 miles, turn left onto NC-251 South. In 1.1 miles, turn right to stay on NC-251 South and follow the signs for Lake Tomahawk. The park will be on your right in 1 mile.

What to do at Lake Tomahawk Park

Lake Tomahawk Park is a great place to enjoy the outdoors and take in the scenic views. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, including hiking, picnicking, fishing, and playing on the playground.

If you’re looking for a challenging hike, the park has several trails that will take you up to the top of Black Mountain. For a more relaxed experience, stroll along the easy walking trail around the lake. You can also rent paddle boats and go for a peaceful paddle on the lake.

Families will enjoy spending time at the playground, where kids can burn off some energy. And if you’re lucky, you might see some wildlife during your visit. The park is home to deer, turkey, and even black bears!

Hours of Operation for Lake Tomahawk Park

Lake Tomahawk Park is open year-round from dawn to dusk. The park office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In the summer, the park is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, and fishing. There are two lifeguard-protected beaches, a fishing pier, and plenty of picnic tables and grills. The park also has a playground, sand volleyball courts, and a basketball court.

In the winter, the park is a great place to go for a hike or a scenic walk. The trails wind through the woods and offer views of the lake.  

Fees for Lake Tomahawk Park

Lake Tomahawk Park is a beautiful park located in the heart of Black Mountain, NC. The park offers many amenities for its visitors, including a playground, picnic shelter, and grills. The park also has a small lake that is perfect for fishing or paddling.

History of Lake Tomahawk Park

The park was established in the early 1950s, when the town of Murphy purchased land on the west side of Hiawassee Lake. The park has been expanded and improved several times over the years, and now covers over 200 acres.

The park offers a variety of amenities for visitors, including a playground, picnic shelters, grills, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and a softball field.
